I would love your vote people, for this little sloth design I have on Spoonflower. The challenge was to design a print using sloths so I have dressed them in cute onesies playing on clouds. These guys remind me of kids at a sleepover party all dressed up for fun in pjs and not for sleep. Anyway I would love your votes. I added a coordinated plain cloud design and plain sloth design. Some purchasers like to buy the matching print for bedroom decor or kids clothing and accessories.
I love the variety of products that Spoonflower offers. An array of beautiful cut and sew fabrics, top quality satin wrapping paper and two types of wallpaper. One is removable so a perfect option for renters or stylists.
New to Spoonflower this week is this Vintage Vases design on a deep navy. I love collecting vintage glass bottles. They make good single stem flower vases. And I have entered this into a design challenge on the Spoonflower blog.
The best thing is if you’re not a sewer, being able to buy items on Roostery home in ready made home decor items. Drapes, bed linen, cushions and napery.
Have a look. I can create your own bespoke design on one of these products. Let me know if you are interested.
Designing for companies around the world has become so easy and commonplace with the amazing technology available today. And, being a self employed surface and textile artist means I can work from my studio in Sydney or be on holiday anywhere and still be able to create and upload designs. When I used to work at Longina Phillips Studio eons ago, everything was painstakingly hand painted and quite laborious to fix or alter and put into design repeat. No longer! I can create designs on an IPad that can be made to look hand painted and turn them into repeats fairly easily.
This design is one of my success stories from recent months. I entered a design competition/challenge for a New York based design company called Printed Village who create monthly challenges for their clients, who are looking for specific prints to fill a gap in their range. Textile Designers from around the globe answer the design brief, create relevant designs and upload them by a designated time for judging. The entries are chosen by the clients and designs selected are then paid for. This design was selected by Elan USA as the winner for this resort wear challenge. Very pleased to see my hard work paying off and this design is on a variety of garments. The design was also made in a pink and green colour way.
So, if you are looking for a special print for a project, I love working to a brief and happy to help. Please email me via my contact page.
The power of social media. I love that I can share my new designs on so many platforms. I added this new floral design to my Redbubble account yesterday. It’s already on Spoonflower and getting lots of likes. I shared this image to show the phone case on my Facebook page and it sold almost immediately. Fantastic news. Especially as the new iPhones are about to launch and Redbubble has the new sizes available.
I am on a mission. Let’s change our shopping habits and save the environment at the same time. Seeing these 15c plastic bags at the supermarket is upsetting, because I think they will still end up in landfill. 15c is too cheap and makes them disposable. We need to get into good shopping habits. Leave some bags in your car and some near your front door, and that way we can change our plastic habits of grabbing a bag at the till. My tote bag designs are of Australian birds. They are available on Redbubble, along with many other designs. Not only can they be used over and over again, and save the environment, but you are supporting a local Sydney designer.
If you’re looking to get your own bags designed for your retail store, send me an email. I would love to hear from you. I can design a bag to suit your branding and logo.
